This is the programme of the first YSAW in Berlin, August, 29th - 31st 2005.

Monday, 29th of August 2005
Until 2pm: Check in at the Hollywood Media Hotel**** in central Berlin (Kurfürstendamm)
2 - 7pm: Speakers present topics to support discussions within the Tuesday working groups:

Youth Travel Partners: Workshop introduction

Bureau International du Tourisme Social: European Context and the role of BITS.

Berlin Tourism Marketing: New and increasing role of youth accommodation for the regional tourism development, Berlin as an example.

Youth travel Partners: A British model for youth accommodation quality standards and the role of Visit Britain and BETA

Swiss Youth Hostels: A youth accommodation organisation works with its National Tourism Organisations Quality programme and influences quality norms for youth travel. The Swiss Model.

UCRIF Etapes Jeunes: Set up and implementation of a quality charter for a network of youth accommodation. A French solution.

Bundesforum für Kinder- und Jugendreisen e.V.: Presentation of an existing regional model for youth accommodation certification and the possible strategies and risks of a national or international solution.

European Hostel Cooperation: online trends and services and their impact on quality services and standards of independent hostels.

Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk Berlin-Brandenburg: "Klassenfahrt TÜV", an existing certification for school trips in Germany..

7pm: Happy hour at the Hotel bar
8pm: Dinner at the Hotel and Drinks at a hype bar of former West Berlin (at walking distance of the hotel)

Tuesday, 30th of August 2005
9 - noon: Two working groups did discuss single topics based on the monday's presentations.
- Should the European Union establish a legal framework to regulate youth travel activities in Europe?
- EU youth accommodation standards: what could they be, what schouldn't they be?

12 - 1 pm: Lunch
1 - 3pm: Coffee and Time dedicated for Trade
3 - 9pm: Visit to different youth accommodation in Berlin, supported by the Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH
9pm: Dinner at a nice restaurant of former East Berlin with great food, and night at a bar of the surrounding.

Participation fee was 500 EUR* per person. This included hotel accommodation in a twin room, full board and the conference programme.
